2008 Project N.O.A.H Passover Food Drive:
March 17th through April 20th
The Haggadah says….All who are hungry -- come and eat. All who are needy -- come and join the Passover celebration.
The Project N.O.A.H. (No One Abandoned Here) Fund provides emergency services for the most needy members of our community. The major goal of the annual Project N.O.A.H. Passover Food Drive is the collection and distribution of packages of food to lower income and elderly Jews during Passover.
Project N.O.A.H. is what this community is all about. Last year we delivered 150 packages to needy Jewish seniors and families and 280 gift bags to seniors in facilities.
Kick off will be March 17th, and the campaign will run through April 20th. Look for special decorated barrels decorated at the following locations:
Addison-Penzak JCC Levy Campus, Yavneh Day School, South Peninsula Hebrew Day School, Congregation Beth-David, Congregation Sinai, Congregation Shir Hadash, Temple Emanu-El, and Lucky Supermarket (El Paseo location).
We would greatly appreciate your contributions of the following non-perishable Kosher for Passover 2008 food items:
gefilte fish, horseradish, jam, candies, honey, latke mix, potato starch, wine, matzo ball soup, macaroons, cookies, dried fruit (pre-bagged or pre-boxed), matzo meal, cake meal, and tea.
Volunteers are also needed to help distribute food packages. This is a wonderful giving activity for families, teens, college students, and kids. Please email Sandi Gaertner at (408) 357-7543 or sandig@jfssv.org for more information.
The Project N.O.A.H. Passover Food Drive is a project of Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley and is jointly sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley, Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center and Yavneh Day School.
