Project N.O.A.H.: Ways to Help
Holiday Food Drive
Project N.O.A.H. (No One Abandoned Here) Food Assistance Program seeks to decrease food insecurity and hunger in Silicon Valley. We serve over 1000 people through food packages, Shabbat meals, and gift cards. Help JFS during the year to collect and distribute food to families and seniors in our community.
Our food collection and distribution drives take place in tandem with Jewish holidays:
- August – September – High Holidays
- November- - December - Hanukkah
- March – April – Passover
The Passover Food Drive
We are pleased to report that our Passover Food Drive this year was wonderfully successful. Thanks to all those who donated money and groceries to ensure a warm celebration of freedom from want at this holiday time of freedom.Feinstein Foundation: Partners for Project N.O.A.H. Food Assistance Program
Once again, Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley is partnering with The Feinstein Foundation to raise money and collect food for the Project N.O.A.H. Food Assistance Program.
The more supermarket gift cards, number of items of food collected, and donations to the Shabbat Meal program and the Project N.O.A.H. Food Assistance we collect through the months of March and April, the more the Feinstein Foundation will donate funds to Project N.O.A.H.
These efforts are collaboration with our "Passover Freedom Drive."
Won’t you help JFS feed 1,100 people in our community this year?

Embrace-A-Family 2012 and "The Yellow Comforter Project"
JFS SV has concluded its very successful 5th Annual Embrace-A-Family Giving Program, which engages the community in providing holiday gifts during Hanukkah to families in need. This year, dreidels with "gift wishes" were posted at synagoges and schools throughout the South Bay, including Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley, Congregation Beth David, Congregation Emeth (new this year!), Congregation Shir Hadash, Congregation Sinai, South Peninsula Hebrew Day School, Temple Emanu-El, Yavneh Day School/APJCC Preschool Lobby, Gan Yeladim Preschool, Liat’s Family Home, Smadars Daycare, Gan Ronit, and Ktantanim BaEmek.
Many other community groups, chavurot, service organizations, and individuals also chose our special dreidels and fulfilled requests with generosity and compassion.
We also collaborated with the PJ Library program as part of "The Yellow Comforter Project," which engaged Jewish preschools in teaching the values of tzedakah. It was wonderful to see young school children collect and donate money for items on the dreidel posters throughout the community.

On behalf of the JFS staff and our clients who benefited from these beautiful gifts, we thank the children, their parents, their teachers, and the PJ Library volunteers for their participation in this project. The toys, household goods, clothes and more filled our JFS offices to capacity, and, once delivered, they filled the hearts of the families who received them.
We at JFS are honored that PJ LIbrary chose our program to help the school children and their parents learn all about the joy of giving to others. One of the special delights of Embrace-A-Family has been that it exemplifies the highest form of tzedakah: the recipients of these beautiful gifts and gift cards do not know their generous donors and the givers of the gifts won’t see the delight on the recipients’ faces. But what we can share is the joy on our JFS staff’s faces as we marvel over the specially selected goodies these children brought, and our warm appreciation for generosity shown by the schools, rabbis, and families in our community.
Todah Rabah!
