Through our Connections to Work program, JFS SV offers a range of vocational training including career counseling and English language training programs to assist recently arrived refugees, immigrants, and members of the local Jewish community in finding jobs with local employers. In addition, JFS SV also provides assistance in seeking job openings for our clients, in particular, our resettlement clients.
Our services, which are virtual during the pandemic, include:
Helping Refugee Clients Find Jobs
JFS SV is always on the lookout for job openings for our resettlement clients. These people are often highly qualified. They are often applying for their first jobs in the U.S., but they may not have extensive or relevant experience in the U.S. job market. Others are seeking entry level jobs to restart their lives in their new country. Their English skills vary, but most have enough English skills to interview and follow instructions.
Our refugee clients have given much and worked hard to come to the United States. They are here to succeed, and want to become fully integrated into American society and give back to their new home. To become self-sufficient, they need to find jobs commensurate with their experience.
JFS SV refugee clients are eligible to bring their employer Work Opportunity Tax credits and Federal Job Tax Credits up to $2500 for each hired individual. These clients are looking for entry-level through advanced positions.
If you own a company, or know about any job openings anywhere in the San Jose metropolitan area that are looking for workers who are self-motivated and results-driven, please have them contact JFS SV.
Community volunteers can also be helpful as Career Mentors. We need mentors from many industries. Are you willing to serve?
