JFS SV provides professional therapeutic counseling to individuals and families facing a range of issues and life challenges. We provide support to children, adults, and families during times of crisis or periods of transition.  Our counseling services are conducted Monday through Friday and are available on a sliding scale.  We provide:


  • Individual counseling services in a supportive, respectful and confidential environment
  • Counseling and support for families in crisis or dealing with relationship issues
  • Emotional support during times of transition (relocation, career change, divorce, empty nest, etc.)

NEW!  Women's Relationship Support Group


JFS has started a new group in collaboration with Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence.


In this support group, you will learn how to:
> Communicate effectively.          > Create and participate in healthy relationships
> Recognize abusive behaviors   > Build self-acceptance and self-confidence
> Develop a safety plan                > Create a better life for you and your family
> Recognize the signs of trauma in yourself and your children.

> Gain value from the experiences of other women who are

   handling intimate partner issues similar to your own.


This program is FREE!

Healing After Trauma
A support group for those who have experienced trauma, such as domestic violence and sexual abuse victims, holocaust survivors, refugees, and immigrants.


Offered onsite at JFS SV and Chai House, group members will decide when to meet beginning late October.  We will establish a safe place to learn from each other, receive support and focus on hope and growth.

for The Caregiver

A Support Group for those Caring for Loved Ones

An open, ongoing group for all who provide care for their spouses or parents, including adult children of Holocaust survivors, Chai House residents and others,

> Get support, stress management techniques and coping tools.

> Meet like-minded caregivers.

Our professional counselors on staff, include:

Sandra Pannell, MA
Sandra is JFS' Project NOAH Social Worker.  She has a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and 26 years of experience working with youth and adults in a variety of crisis settings.  She is an experienced case manager and client advocate; and helps connect people with low incomes to the services they need.  Sandra uses a variety of techniques to move individuals to positive change.

Hilla Flohr, MSW

Hilla is JFS' Clinical Social Worker.  She has a Masters degree in Social Work; Hilla’s experience in the mental health field dates back to when she was a soldier in the IDF in Israel, providing case management and emotional support to soldiers. Hilla has experience working with victims of trauma, being part of her clients’ healing process and giving them the tools to cope.
