Dear JFS SV Friends and Family, On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is my distinct privilege to officially welcome Susan Frazer as JFS SV’s Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2023. An experienced leader in the social services and aging fields, Susan succeeds Mindy Berkowitz who announced her retirement after almost 20 years as the agency’s Chief Executive Officer. Susan has been delivering social and aging services to the community for 35 years specializing in organizational and program development. She began her early career at Jewish Family and Children’s Services in San Francisco and has served as the Chief Operating Officer for JFS SV since 2020. Prior to joining JFS SV, she served as the Regional Director of Community Living Services with the Institute on Aging where she delivered new and innovative aging services models in Santa Clara County. Susan holds a license in clinical social work and earned her Master’s Degree in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. Susan’s dedication to the organization has been instrumental in leading the agency to unprecedented growth, increasing our reach to populations of focus including older adults, refugees, holocaust survivors, adults, and families. Susan expresses great pride in the organization stating, “Using the foundation of Jewish values, we are here for all – welcoming the stranger, aiming to repair the world, and holding high regard for the rights and dignity of others.” She is a visionary leader who will engage partners in enhancing the service delivery capacity of the organization. In her almost 20 years as the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, Mindy Berkowitz helped to build the foundation of the agency through her compassion, vision, and expertise. We are grateful to Mindy for her dedication and service these past 20 years and wish her the best in retirement. In the upcoming future, the community will be invited to celebrate Mindy’s long career of leading and building JFS SV. Please join me in wishing both Susan and Mindy well in their new endeavors!
