While summer often brings a sense of ease, this year it arrives alongside growing hardship. Federal cuts to SNAP, Medicaid, and food bank funding are already taking a toll—leaving families without enough food, older adults at risk of losing essential care, and legal immigrants more vulnerable than ever.
At JFS, we’re putting our impact into action by stepping in where these vital supports have been pulled away.
We’re filling the gap left by food assistance cuts through our Berkowitz Food Assistance Program - providing groceries and essentials to more families every week. We’re helping older adults stay housed and healthy by offering care management, homecare services, and access to critical benefits that have become harder to secure. We’re supporting legal immigrants with case management, ESL classes, and job placement services to help them gain stability and overcome fear in an uncertain environment. And we’re making sure no one is forgotten—reaching out to isolated older adults and caregivers to offer the support and connection that federal systems no longer provide.
We’re not doing this work alone. With your partnership, we’re building a safety net that holds strong - even when others fray.
JFS is here - compassionate, responsive, and all in for our community. Together, we are turning setbacks into support, and fear into forward motion.
Together in hope and action,
Susan Frazer, LCSW
President and CEO
