Dear Friends,
As the holiday of Purim approaches in just a few weeks, it’s hard not to draw some comparison to Queen Esther’s story and the violence we are seeing in society today targeting identity, dividing communities, and challenging our shared values. Our resilience, which we honor at Purim, was not born of brute strength. Instead, it arose from wisdom, truth, and compassion for others, leading to a reversal of fortunes.
I’m proud to say that the spirit of Purim reflects who we are at JFS Silicon Valley: “We stand with you, so you don’t stand alone.” Each day, we commit to care, safety, and belonging. As we hold the lessons of the Jewish faith close, we never forget brutality’s cost to generations of Jews, including the lived experiences of our Holocaust survivors. Their courage and resilience strengthen our resolve, deepen our solidarity, and inspire us to continue driving meaningful change for those who need our support.
May Purim be a time for us to celebrate the good that comes from compassion for others and from being part of a community that takes care of each other.

Susan Frazer, LCSW
President and CEO
