We were thrilled by the enthusiasm our community showed in supporting Eat to Learn, our new program designed to help ensure students have the healthy snacks they need to succeed in school. The response to our inaugural snack drive was a wonderful reminder of how our community comes together to meet emerging needs.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, 70 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade started the school year with the essentials they need to learn and thrive. Each student received a backpack filled with grade-appropriate school supplies, a snack bag filled with 15 different snack items, and a $50 Target gift card to help families purchase school clothes and shoes.
What's next? Eat to Learn is now transitioning into a year-round program! Through monthly snack distributions, we can help ensure students are not distracted by hunger and have access to nutritious snacks that keep them focused, energized, and ready to learn. It also gives parents and caregivers one less thing to worry about.
How you can get involved: We're looking for community partners and sponsors to help sustain this effort throughout the school year so students continue to have access to snacks whenever they're needed. To learn more, call (408) 556-0600 or visit https://www.jfssv.org/getinvolved.
A special thank you to our Eat to Learn partners! This program would not have been possible without the generosity and support of the community partners who helped make our first snack drive a success.
