It was our honor to welcome Sheryl Sandberg to Good Day JFS! for a conversation with award-winning journalist and NBC Bay Area reporter Scott Budman.
During the discussion, Sheryl spoke candidly about resilience through both personal loss and the pressures of leadership, while also sharing her perspective on her Jewish identity and the challenges many Jewish individuals and families face today.
As she reflected on the impact of October 7th, Sheryl spoke about a generation of American Jews who grew up feeling a sense of safety and distance from the trauma experienced by earlier generations. One moment that resonated with many was a vulnerable conversation with a friend in which she asked a simple yet profound question: “Would you hide me?” It was a powerful reminder of how quickly feelings of security can shift and why preserving the stories, experiences, and lessons carried by Holocaust survivors and past generations remains so important.
Sheryl also shared her commitment to philanthropy, supporting education, cultural understanding, and experiences that help future generations appreciate the richness, traditions, and values of diverse communities. Her message reinforced the importance of compassion, conversation, and courage in building a more peaceful and connected world.
We are grateful to Sheryl for lending her voice to this important conversation and for supporting JFS Silicon Valley's mission and work.
