When Giving Back Opens New Doors

Every volunteer brings something valuable to JFS Silicon Valley. Along the way, many discover that the experience makes an impact on their lives. 

Or B. has volunteered with our Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) program, helping adult learners improve English skills they need to build careers and establish new lives in our community. This fall, Or will begin a new chapter as an Associate Faculty member in the ESL Department at San Jose City College, where he'll teach Intermediate Listening and Speaking. 

He shared this wonderful note:

"Thank you and everyone at Jewish Family Services for the opportunity to volunteer in the VESL program. Working with students, instructors, and fellow volunteers has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I believe it has prepared me for this opportunity. I am very grateful for all of your support and encouragement throughout the past year."
