Dear Friends,

Rosh Hashanah marks a time of reflection and intention. On the first day of Rosh Hashanah, we read about Channah, who poured out her heart in silent prayer. At first, she was judged and misunderstood, until the High Priest took the time to truly listen to her story—and in that moment, her dignity and truth were recognized.

Channah’s story reminds us how easy it is to misjudge, and how powerful it is to see and hear others with compassion. This lesson feels urgent today. At JFS, we see immigrants seeking safety, families facing hunger, and older adults longing for connection. Together, with your support, we ensure that no one is invisible, and every person is treated with respect.

The past year has been heavy for many, yet we also witnessed the strength of community. With courage and kindness, you helped bring hope, connection, and stability where it was most needed.

As we enter the Jewish new year 5785, we invite you to join us in continuing our mission-driven work and may Channah’s story inspire us to listen, to see one another fully, and to build a community rooted in compassion.

Shanah Tovah U’Metukah—wishing you and your family a sweet, healthy, and meaningful new year.
